Behind the artwork of Escape:
Have you ever stood by the sea and felt like time paused—just long enough for your thoughts to breathe?
 
This painting was born from that feeling. Inspired by a quiet moment at Newcastle Baths, I found myself drawn to the rusted safety chains that trace the edge of the ocean pool—remnants of something once rigid now softened by salt and time. They add texture, but they also speak of history, of letting go.
 
The landscape holds five expressions of water—shallow pools, rippling waves, crashing whitewash, soft reflections and the vast, mysterious deep. Each one seems to mirror a part of us: the surface thoughts, the undercurrents, the stirrings of emotion, the clarity, the unknown.
 
And those soaring seagulls, the shells along the horizon... they whisper of memories, of freedom, of childhood days when nothing was rushed.
 
This piece is called Escape, but not because we need to run away. It’s about stepping aside from the pressure to always be ‘on’—and finding satisfaction in who you already are.
